Conosco Stanley Barkan da molti anni e insieme ci siamo dedicati ad alcuni avvenimenti letterari sia negli Stati Uniti che in Europa, Sicilia; abbiamo promosso la Cross-Cultural Communications e la Cooperativa Antigruppo Siciliano, ambedue piccole case editrici. Con la sua tenace volont\u00e0, Stanley Barkan, attraverso la Cross-Cultural Communications, da lui fondata, ha pubblicato, portandoli alla ribalta del pubblico americano, centinaia di poeti di ogni dove. Mio caro amico Stanley! Egli continua a dedicarsi agli altri, trascurando i suoi componimenti poetici, mettendo cos\u00ec in secondo ordine il suo gran talento. Ora io mi sono detto: dato che posso testimoniare sull\u2019eccellenza della sua poesia, perch\u00e9 non coinvolgere altri lettori e poeti e letterati ad interessarsi dei suoi scritti? Perch\u00e9 il mondo non deve conoscere la delicata e amabile bellezza dei suoi testi? Cos\u00ec ho pregato mio fratello Nat Scam- macca di curarne la traduzione in lingua italiana. I suoi versi sono un susse- guirsi di ricordi sulla sua famiglia ebrea a Brooklyn, sul suo essere giovane a East New York, sui suoi viaggi in lungo e in largo per l\u2019Europa e per il resto del mondo e in special modo in Sicilia, ospite di Nat Scammacca che lo ha coinvolto nell\u2019amore per la mitologia greca e per la terra siciliana, essendo io e Nat Americani oriundi siciliani. Potrei ancora tessere le lodi di questo amico, non solo mio, ma anche di mio fratello; Stanley amico\/fratello, allegro, entusiasta, rigorosamente in bolletta, ma sempre pronto a credere in ogni avvenimento culturale, non importa in quale angolo del mondo avvenga.<\/p>\n

I have known Stanley H. Barkan for many years, and together we have cooperated in many joint literary events promoted by Cross-Cultural Com- munications and the Sicilian publishing house in Trapani (Coop. Editrice Antigruppo Siciliano), two small presses dedicated to the publishing of poe- try anthologies and hundreds of books of verse in many languages. Due to his persistance much good work has been the results both for American as well as for foreign poets. My dear friend Stanley! did this at the sacrifice of his own poetic works, and at absolutely no monetary profit to himself, thus neglecting his own great poetic talent. I can attest to the fact that Stanley Barkan\u2019s poetry is of an excellence reaching to the stars, and that the world should know the deli- cate and loveable beauty of his poetic lines and especially the poetry expres- sed in his family, Sicilian and Brooklyn poems. I could go on and on with my praises, but without a doubt Stanley\u2019s poe- try has taken a back seat in the publication of other poet\u2019s works, even though Stanley\u2019s work is supremely superior and which only now will finally be completely revealed to the readers of the United States, Italy and Sicily.<\/p>\n
